Allu Arjun led Pushpa 2: The Rule has a record breaking opening of Rs 65 crore in Hindi, surpassing the previous best film Jawaan which earned Rs 64 crore when it released in 2024. The film rocked everywhere and created circuit records in most places, even on a non-holiday day, which tells a lot about the hype around the film.
Out of the 65 crore, the film has received a major contribution of 48 percent from the top 6 multiplex players. India’s leading national chain PVRInox earned Rs 19.30 crore on day one, followed by Cinepolis with Rs 5.62 crore.
Mirage earned Rs 2.60 crore, Moviemax Rs 1.40 crore, Rajhans Rs 1.24 crore and finally Movietime earned Rs 0.82 crore. Collectively, multiplex chains grossed Rs 30.92 crore on day one, while the remaining Rs 34.02 crore came from smaller plexes and single screens.
Pushpa 2’s business is at record-breaking levels across all properties except PVRInox and Cinepolis. Pricing also played a role in pushing the film towards an all-time record, but even a 10 per cent lower price slab might not have changed the scenario, as it could have led to more footfalls.
The film was always expected to take a strong opening, but a record-breaking opening on a non-holiday is beyond all estimates. A holiday release would have pushed Pushpa 2’s first day collection to Rs 75 crore. On the territorial front, East Punjab collected Rs 5.40 crore, Delhi UP Rs 12 crore and finally, Mumbai Rs 21.20 crore.
